แรงบันดาลใจหลักของเพลงนี้ไม่ได้มาจากแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา หากแต่เป็นวัฒนธรรมแวดล้อมที่แปรสายน้ำให้เปลี่ยนเป็นวาริเอชั่นต่างๆ โดยเฉพาะเพลงพื้นบ้านของแต่ละจังหวัดที่แม่น้ำไหลผ่าน เช่น วาริเอชั่นที่ 1 และ 2 ได้แรงบันดาลใจจากวิธีการร้องโต้ตอบของเพลงช้าเจ้าโลม (จ. นครสวรรค์) ส่วนในตอนท้ายมาถึงกรุงเทพก็จะมีความคล้ายวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยมากขึ้น
The main inspiration for this song is not from the Chao Phraya River but it is from a variation of the culture that has transformed the river to be the folk songs in each province. For example, Variation 1 and 2 are inspired by a folk song of Nakhon Sawan. Even in the end to When the river flows to Bangkok, it becomes more a contemporary culture.
เพลงนี้ได้บรรยายภาพของแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา แม่น้ำสายหลักที่หล่อเลี้ยงชีวิตของคนไทยภาคกลาง และต้นกำเนิดของวัฒนธรรมมากมาย เพลงนี้ได้บรรยายตั้งแต่จุดกำเนิดตั้งแต่ ปิง-วัง-ยม-น่าน เริ่มไหลมาบรรจบกัน เกิดเป็นทำนองหลัก (Theme) ของ “เจ้าพระยา” เมื่อไหลไปตามสถานที่ต่างๆ สายน้ำก็ได้แปรเปลี่ยนเป็นแต่ละวาริเอชั่นตามที่แห่งนั้น
This song depicts the Chao Phraya River. The main river that no urishes the lives of the Thai people and is the origin of many cultures. The song describes the origin of the river from Ping, Wang, Yom, Nan, which flow together and create the main theme of the “Chao Phraya”. When the river flows to various places, it creates a variation of each place.
